Dear Sir/Madam,
Greetings from Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT)
The Nobel Laureate Mother Teresa Charitable Trust (MTCT) is a non-profit organisation with a proud 28-year legacy of dedicated service to underprivileged and marginalised communities. Established on 5th September 1997, the day of the passing of the revered Mother Teresa - an icon of love and service - our mission is firmly rooted in humanitarian principles. Our operational wing, the Mother Teresa Forum, functions across multiple states in India, delivering positive change through various social welfare initiatives.
Over the years, we have successfully implemented impactful projects in education, healthcare, poverty alleviation, environmental conservation, and other crucial areas. With the unwavering support of philanthropists and dedicated volunteers, MTCT continues to undertake vital initiatives for the welfare of the downtrodden and disadvantaged, irrespective of caste, creed, or religion. The Mother Teresa Forum works through an extensive network of branches across Indian states, as well as district, zonal (taluk), and village-level committees to efficiently execute these programmes.
We are honoured to be an accredited member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council and the World Health Organization (WHO). MTCT also holds statutory recognitions under Section 12AA and Section 80G(5)(iv) of the Income Tax Act for tax-exempt donations, as well as **FCRA (Foreign Contribution Regulation Act)** registration. Additionally, we are registered with **NITI Aayog (Planning Commission of India) and Charities Aid Foundation, America (CAF America)**.
Inspired by Mother Teresa's mission of caring for the orphaned, elderly, and suffering, with a focus on eradicating hunger, our Trust currently provides free meals to 130-150 underprivileged individuals daily at our headquarters in Chennai. Motivated by the success of this initiative, we now aim to expand this programme across multiple locations.
Mother Teresa Forum has branches in nearly all slums of Chennai, working for the upliftment of the poor and marginalised. We also collaborate with the Auto Drivers Association for effective community outreach. Our initiatives include education support, night tuition classes, and tailoring training under our women's empowerment programme.
Chennai, a bustling metropolitan city in India, is home to many underprivileged individuals who struggle to access basic necessities such as food and medical care. Among them, the homeless and sick who live on the streets are most vulnerable. This proposal seeks to establish a "**Food on Wheels**" initiative, a mobile distribution service dedicated to providing nutritious meals to the poor and sick in various parts of the city and suburban areas. The main objectives of the scheme are:
To implement this initiative, we require a space, cooking utensils, and a minivan. While a space can be rented, a **minivan (18/20-seater)** is essential for efficient community service.
The vehicle will be used for:
The budget for both capital and running costs is enclosed. As a token of our gratitude, we will prominently display the donor's name on the minivan.
We sincerely seek your generous support in providing two minivans, which are a critical requirement for the seamless implementation of this humanitarian programme.
Thank you for your time and kind consideration. Your support will be invaluable in helping us advance our mission of love and service.
With kindest regards,
Dr G.K. Dhas
